Anticipated Administrative Position:
Director, Food and Nutrition Services:
The Armstrong School District is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Food and Nutrition Services. The Director will provide leadership and oversight for the District’s comprehensive food and nutrition program, serving approximately 4,245 students in grades K–12.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Food Service Management, Dietetics, Nutrition, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Successful supervisory or administrative experience in school food service, institutional food service, or a related setting. Completion of an internship or specialized training program designed to prepare individuals for food and nutrition services supervisory or director-level positions will also be considered.
- Knowledge of current federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines governing school nutrition programs, food safety, and personnel supervision.
- Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage staff, budgets, food service operations, and program compliance.
- Commitment to providing nutritious, high-quality, and cost-effective meals and services to students and staff.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership, sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with administrators, staff, students, families, and community partners.

Anticipated Professional Position:
Long-Term Substitute School Nurse
The Armstrong School District is seeking applications for a long-term substitute School Nurse. The School Nurse provides comprehensive health services to support the health, safety, and educational success of students and staff. The position is responsible for maintaining student health records, providing first aid and emergency care, administering medications and treatments, and supporting students with special health care needs. The School Nurse conducts required health screenings, promotes preventative health practices, assists with communicable disease prevention, and coordinates follow-up care and referrals as needed. The position also collaborates with parents/guardians, staff, physicians, and student support teams to develop and implement appropriate health and emergency plans. Additionally, the School Nurse provides health-related resources and training to staff and supports the development and implementation of District health policies, programs, and services.
Qualifications for The School Nurse:
- Possesses a current registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience as a professional registered nurse.
- Experience as a professional registered nurse.
- Currently holds or is eligible for Pennsylvania Certification in School Nursing.

Anticipated Part-time Food Service Opening
The Armstrong School district has an anticipated permanent part-time Food and Nutrition Services General Worker.
Qualifications: high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED, college, technical or trade school), prior cooking/serving experience, ability to run a computer/cash register, preferred, but not required, ServSafe Certification, and valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License. If applicant is not ServSafe certified, they will need to complete a course and obtain the certification.
The Food and Nutrition Services General Worker ensures that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and demonstrates competence in the performance of job responsibilities using established district practices and procedures. Armstrong School District has competitive wages, and provides sick time, and personal days.

SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Teachers:
Teachers receive the following:
- Retired Teachers –$150/day – after 30 days increased to $165/day
- Substitute Teachers/Guest Teachers - $125/day – after 30 days increased to $140/day.
- Substitute Teachers who accept an assignment which is greater than 20 days - $150/day (pay will begin at start of assignment)
Nurses receive the following:
- Retired School Nurses and/or RN Substitutes –$150/day – after 30 days increased to $165/day
- Substitute LPN - $125/day – after 30 days increased to $140/day.
Paraprofessionals: $11.50/hr.
Administrative Assistants: $11.50/hr.
