Please find attached recently approved changes to the grade point average calculation used in Armstrong School District for Class Rank. This change can also be found on pages 8 and 9 in the course description book posted on the district website. This change will be implemented starting with students entering grade 9 for the 23-24 school year. The purpose of this change is to encourage students to reach their potential by taking a full schedule of 8 credits. The change to the GPA is designed reward students taking a full schedule by offsetting a mathematical reduction in a student’s GPA that may occur when a student takes 8 credits in a school year.

Students entering grade 9 next school year may still elect to take additional courses by notifying their guidance counselor. Please contact your school's guidance office with any further questions or to sign up for additional courses.

School districts in Allegheny, Cambria, and Blair counties are in lockdown at the direction of E M S due to a rash of automated "swatting" calls across the state which are communicating threatening situations to schools. At this time, the calls appear to be a hoax. Currently, no ASD schools have received these calls. However, out of an abundance of caution, we have increased police presence in our schools.
