π MEET OUR NEW ASD Food and Nutrition Services Director! π
Please join us in welcoming Danielle Stewart to the Armstrong School District family and learn a little bit about her! β€οΈ
π Education/Background:
Danielle graduated as a certified culinarian from IUP Punxsutawney Academy of Culinary Arts in 2016. From there, she pursued a Bachelor's degree at IUP main campus for Nutrition and Dietetics. After graduating in 2020, she went right into food service management roles, where she worked as the Director of Dietary for 2 different local nursing homes for about 3 years. After that, she found herself back at IUP in a food service manager role for 4 years. There she was responsible for overseeing the feeding program for all of the students on campus! Fast forward to present day and now she is here in the district with the same goal; to run a successful food service program for the children.
π¬ Why ASD?
Danielle lives in the district and her husband and all of their friends are graduates of West Shamokin, and she just had a little one last year that will be attending Shannock Valley in 4 years. She thought that it would be rewarding to work within the district that she has so many connections with; as well as working with children which is something she has always wished that she could do.
π€ What she is most excited about in her new role:
βI am most excited for creating a new network in the community with fellow peers in the district and really get to know the team responsible for impacting the lives of our future generations.β
π¦π§ What do you enjoy most about working in school food service and helping students?
βI enjoy interacting with the students and seeing their smiles! I love to hear their thoughts and hear about their day!β
π What is one goal you have for the district's Food Service Department?
βA goal I have is to make kids feel more connected with the food program. I want kids to feel excited to come to lunch, and I want to build relationships with them to the point where they recognize me during my visits and are comfortable asking me questions and giving me feedback.β
β What is one fun fact about yourself that people might not know?
βIt might be silly; but I love pugs! I have always had pugs since I was a little girl. If I pass something in the store with a pug on it, there's a good likelihood it ends up in my cart.β
π What do you enjoy doing outside of work? (Hobbies, family activities, interests, etc.)
βI love to cook and bake, play video games, and go for adventures with my family like camping, boating, or hiking!β
π₯³ Is there anything else you would like ASD families, students, and staff to know about you?
βI am very excited to be in this role and am looking forward to leading the district's food program.β
We are excited to have Danielle join our team and look forward to all the wonderful things they will bring to our students and school community!
Welcome to ASD! π
