The Rural Valley Lions Club recently celebrated 87 years of serving the community at its Charter Night Cinco De Mayo celebration. Entertainment was provided by the West Shamokin Senior Chorus Ensemble, directed by Emily King. Members of the community were recognized for their selfless service with a Heart of a Lion Award and a new member was inducted. A delicious festive Mexican meal was created by Lion Matty McCaslin, which members of the West Shamokin LEO Club helped to prepare and serve. The following members were recognized for their years of membership: Robert Caresani, 45 years; Margie Hayes, 25 years; Barry Prugh, 15 years.
