The Armstrong School District has contracted through Armstrong Security Pennsylvania-certified School Police Officers that are comprised of retired State Police Officers and local law enforcement. They have the authority to exercise the same powers granted under authority of law, including but not limited to: the issuance of summary citations, as well as the power to arrest.
The Armstrong School District School Police shall protect and serve by monitoring and ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, community members, and property to create and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment by fostering open channels of communications, teamwork, and relationship development with students, teachers, staff, administrators, parents, community resources, and local law enforcement to identify and resolve potential safety and security issues.
School Police Officers are not in our schools solely to react to situations, but they are equally there to be proactive, diminishing the need to be reactive. The officers are present in all Armstrong School District schools, working with students to build positive relationships, and helping to identify and stem problems before they can escalate. School Police Officers help to keep the lines of communication open between students, families, administration and law enforcement. School Police Officers also assist the District with refining and enhancing its safety procedures.
